Russia Bounces Canada from the World Championships

Posted by on

We know the IIHF World Championships are not as big a draw in the US as they are north of the boarder, but we love to see Team Canada go down. For the fourth straight year, the Russians bounced Team Canada from the Championships, ensuring that Canada will not be #1 in the World Rankings and will not win a medal.
For those of you that have not been watching the World Championships, it has been a decent tournament. We can see why you might skip these games, as they are usually on in the mornings or late at night, and they air on Versus. A young inexperienced Team USA team finished in eighth, which was an improvement from last year but still disappointing. But at least some of the kids gained more experience on the international level. The Europeans always take this tournament more seriously, and we don’t see anyone beating the Check Republic, maybe Sweden.
